The Bridgeport Main Street Revitalization set the record for the quickest implementation ever in a long history of Opticos projects. The feature on the Project for Public Spaces (PPS) website states it best: “9 week period from the first public meeting to installation!” The project team worked closely with Bridgeport residents, County agencies, and Caltrans to develop a design strategy for rightsizing Main Street. The community overwhelmingly supported a “road diet” that reduced the street from five lanes to three, and allowed additional space for pedestrians, bicyclists, and back-in angled parking.

Read the article on the PPS website “Small Community of Bridgeport Rightsized their Main Street in Record Time” or check out the Mono County website for more information. Funded by a CalTrans Community-based Transportation Planning Grant, the project team included Mono County, the Local Government Commission, Walkable and Livable Communities Institute, Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates, Inc., and a very involved Bridgeport community.
