John’s understanding of digital technology, combined with a passion for urban places, has shaped his work providing clients of all types with cutting-edge planning and design solutions. Through his collaborative spirit and dynamic style, John has created a host of award-winning Form-Based Codes and plans that engage the latest in technology to help communities understand and support the character of their place.  He is currently working with the City of Austin to create a community character-based update to the city’s Land Development Code, and he is a regarded resource on Missing Middle Housing—a range of housing types, compatible in scale with single-family homes, that addresses the growing demand for walkable, urban living.
